   Anyway,
   You could try giving your dog a bath. Which will just help it in general. But also try looking on the internet for special types of dog shampoos. I know that they have special kinds for helping hair and skin.

   Feeding a quality food goes a long way in helping a dog total health. Giving your dog fish oil, salmon oil or virgin coconut oil in with their food also helps add omegas & helps with their coat/skin. Your dog needs a proper diet or they are greatly shortening his lifespan with a junk food diet.

   Dog food is specifically designed to give the dog the proper amount of vitamins/minerals. Even if you feed your dog raw food, or people food, you should still feed SOME dog food. They sell all sorts of supplements for skin and coat. Salmon oil is good. I also second the Natural Balance suggestion.

   The BEST diet for dogs is raw …

   If you don’t want to go that route (neither do I), find a high-quality kibble that contains no corn, wheat, or soy … all those ingredients are allergenic for some dogs, and really are unnecessary for all dogs.

   Adding Omega fatty acids can only help the dog’s skin and coat … you can buy those as capsules to give whole or break and feed in your dog’s food.

   I’m not sure if this will help but if your just worried about his skin and coat looking better, believe it or not, burnt motor oil. I wouldn’t recommend doing this if your dog is solid white. If you change your oil your self just take the old oil and cover your dog in it for a few hours. Keep clear of his eyes and face. I promise his coat will never look better! Its good for their skin and makes their coat shine! My vet said it was fine and it wouldn’t hurt them. I’ve done this with my dogs before that have some white and it works great. When I was a kid we took in a stray that had mange and did this with him. His hair grew back shiny and full. We had that dog for years! Good luck to ya!

   As a dog trainer of 13 years it is never a good idea to feed a dog table food. There is not the right vitamins and nutrients in our food for the dog. There are a lot of premium food that you get at the pet stores that are good for your dog. Science Diet, Pro Plan, Iams, Royal Canin, Natural Choice and others. All have the ingredients that would be beneficial for your dog. Some of them even have formulas specifically for the skin and coat.

   You can supplement your dog’s diet with "people food". Just make sure that a majority of his nutrition comes from a high quality dog food. Also make sure you don’t give him onions, grapes, really salty or really sweet foods.

    I feed my 2 year old dog Science Diet Adult Lamb and Rice Meal. It has Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids which give your dog a radiant coat. We originally had him on a different food but his coat started itching him and it looked dull. We switched him to Science Diet adult lamb and rice meal and his coat is now soooo shiny!     Sorry your dog needs to be eating dog food for him to get everything he needs. Unless you are willing to cook food specficiallyu for him, measure out vitamins/minerals/calcium supplements(which are pricey).

    Wellness has worked wonders for us, as well as Natures Variety dog food.
