i have been biting my skin and sometimes eating it near the edge of my nails since childhood?

Posted under skin nutrition

a gross habit i know but i do it even when i am not really hungry.
is it an anxiety problem or a lack of nutrition or something.
cranky, i actually do eat it.

more of a habit- get that stuff from walmart (or whereever) called "hoof"….. it’s like clear nail polish, but it tastes like ass!!! YOU WILL NOT CHEW ON IT! I promise!

Just a bad habit that’s hard to break. I do it, too. And I still tend to bite off my fingernails instead of trimming them. Also a bad habit.

it is usually about anxiety. we bite things, chew things, eat things when we are nervous about something or other. Our hands are usually what we need for something or other. Try using your hands for something constructive or destructive and see if that does’;t help in your need to bite them. you could always sit on them as well.

A friend of mine had a similar problem, except she would chew on her knuckles till it bled. She still has scars from it. It was an anxiety/psychological problem and not just a bad habit, at least for her it was. She had to see a therapist that did hypnosis on her to make her completely stop from doing it.
