How in the world did women back in the day keep their skin so soft and beautiful? What traditional remedies did they use, or products did they use?? Every classical movie I watch, it seems like no one back then had blemishes, or uneven skin tones. I know that is not the case of course, but it seems like all those women were flawless, of course now a days with movie stars it seems that way also, but something about classical stars is just flawless. Anyone know the old traditions of facial skin care??? I got the make up down lol but would love to learn more.
the most common cosmetic use was cold cream, it was used to remove make-up as well as a moisturizer. Red lip color, a rosy blush, light application of dark brown eyeliner and mascara were all most women wore on a daily basis, most film stars have considerably more make-up on more like stage make-up than modern make-up, again always removed with cold cream. Personally I use only cold cream and it seems to be working much better for my skin than any of the modern products I used before. The diet in those eras was much more healthy than the modern diet as well, having much more fruits and vegetables and less fats and meat.
acne scar removal and general skin rejuvenation. Thanks for your help,
I would avoid paying for a machine, and invest in a good skin care regimen. This would consist of:
1. Scrub
2. Cleanser
3. Toner
4. and Moisturizer
It needn’t be expensive, St. Ives Apricot Scrub and Cream Cleanser are miracle workers. If you follow your regimen religiously, and drink TOO MUCH water, you should see results in within 2 weeks, which is what any product that does the same thing would take. For acne scars, using vitamin e oil directly on the scar will continually and gradually diminish it. For a temporary and immediate fix, try a procuct used for plumping lips, as it stimulates skin to even out. Good luck, and be patient.

My face is starting to show signs of aging. Wrinkles and sagging skin are setting in. I want to start an anti-aging regime. This site: http://stayingyoungnow.com/index.php has got various tips for anti-aging. Can you let me know of any other website which i can refer to?

Forget all the so-called specialities that cost a fortune. Simply rely on the basics. If there is any concern with dryness of skin, for example, use something as simply as Johnson’s Baby Oil or some of the other products on the market that heal.
i have very deep wrinkles in my hands and it makes them very rough and disgusting and im only 16.
Will it work?
Buy a hand cream. Neutrogena is good and so is Clarins. Before you go to bed at night apply a thick layer of handcream and put on a pair of cotton gloves and leave on overnight.Your hands should be nice and soft in the morning.I would say the deep wrinkles you see are dehydration lines so you need to add moisture back into your hands

Here are some causes and tips that I followed that treated my acne:
Clogged pores or follicles – Acne is caused by clogged "pores" or "follicles" small openings in the skin, that contain a hair and sebaceous oil gland. The medical term, "acne vulgar is" is the most common kind of acne. It can show up anywhere on the body but it is usually found on the face, back, shoulders, and chest. Follicles become clogged by dead skin cells and oil called sebum, made in the pore.
Try to avoid things that can irritate your skin and cause acne such as:
1. Tight headbands, helmets or wool hats
2. Greasy lotions, hair products, and oily makeup
3. Grease-filled air in restaurant kitchens. If you work in this type of environment, be sure to wash your face when you get home.
4. Stress. When you are emotionally stressed your body makes extra hormones that can cause breakouts.
Let me know if this was helpful!
I was at a lecture recently where a (board-certified) dermatologist spoke about skin cancer and ways to help prevent it and treatments and such, and she did touch on skin rejuvenation. I was really surprised when she said that topical vitamin c is ‘not stable’ so that no one really knows for sure if it makes a difference on the face as there are so many claims about it. She said that the retinoids are supposed to be much more effective such as retin-a. Anyone else hear about topical vitamin c? I found it to be very interesting, and I was really glad that I attended the talk
Thanks!
I use vitamin c serum every night because I’ve read several times of it’s healing qualities. I have acne scarring in several places. I really like it. I use it as a night cream, and it seems to be working. I don’t like using creams or lotions. They have too many additives that don’t need to be on your skin, like oil or fragrance. The kind I use now, I got at Sally. I can’t remember the name, but it smells like straight oranges! I love it.
